Alright mamas, let me paint you a picture of our recent adventure to Elizabeth Porter Park Playground in Marietta, GA.
First off—if you’ve got little ones who need to run like their life depends on it (aka, every child I’ve ever met), this playground is worth the drive. My two girls practically exploded out of the car as soon as they saw the splash of colors and climbing structures.
This playground is newer, clean, and big enough that your kids will find plenty to do, but not so sprawling that you’ll lose sight of them if you blink twice. My six-year-old made a beeline for the tall slides and rope climbing areas—she was out there conquering Mount Everest in her mind. Meanwhile, my four-year-old was happily bouncing between the swings and the smaller play zones designed for younger kids. She did insist I “watch this!” at least 92 times, and I clapped like she was in the Olympics every single one.
Bonus points for moms: there’s some shaded seating, which in Georgia is basically as valuable as gold in August. There are restrooms close to the playground (hallelujah!), and the splash pad is super close in case you want to cool off after playing ($3 fee).
Elizabeth Porter Park is definitely going on our list of “yes, we’ll come back” playgrounds. Between the splash pad, the variety of play equipment, and the easy parking, it’s a solid win for moms who need to let their kids burn off some serious energy.
