About PlanIt.Mom

Hey y’all - I’m Jamie

I’m a mom, a planner, a storyteller, and a firm believer that motherhood is beautiful, messy, hilarious, exhausting, and heart-filling.  Sometimes all in the same five minutes.

I’m raising two girls, figuring this whole motherhood thing out right alongside you, and sharing the things that make our days easier, more fun, or at least give us something to laugh about later.

PlanIt.Mom didn’t start because I had motherhood figured out. It started when I realized nobody did.

WHY PLANIT.MOM EXISTS ↓

Why PlanIt.Mom Exists

Motherhood comes with a million questions, a packed calendar, and very few pauses.  Somewhere between raising kids, caring for everybody else, and trying to remember who we were before “Mom,” it’s easy to wonder if everybody else has this figured out and we somehow missed the memo.

I know that feeling because it’s exactly where PlanIt.Mom began.

PlanIt.Mom exists to remind you:

You’re not behind.
You’re not failing.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
And you’re doing a dang good job.

HOW PLANIT.MOM STARTED ↓

How PlanIt.Mom Started

It started with a five-pound baby and one very overwhelmed new mama.

When Jessica was born, I did what so many new moms do.  I Googled everything.

And for every question, I found approximately 50 different answers, 49 ways I could apparently be doing it wrong, and an internet full of moms who looked like they had this whole motherhood thing completely figured out.

They were sleeping.  Showering.  Eating full meals.

Their hair was washed. Mine was…not.

I was pretty sure I was failing at motherhood before I’d even gotten my footing.

A couple of years later, Jessica started preschool during COVID.  A little group of preschool moms found one another, and somewhere between the talking, sharing, laughing, and crying, I realized something that changed motherhood for me:

Every single one of us was struggling.

I wasn’t failing.

I was normal.

We were normal.

Nobody had this motherhood thing figured out.

And Then I Started Sharing

Once I stopped trying so hard to do motherhood “right,” I started noticing how much moms needed one another.

If I found a fun event for the kids, I shared it.

A helpful resource?  Shared it.

Something that made life easier?  Sent it to every mama I knew.

A little encouragement or something that made us laugh?  You better believe I was sending that, too.

Eventually I thought:

“I need one place to put all this.”

And that’s how PlanIt.Mom was born.

And Then There’s Nugget 🐾

Somewhere along the way, a shaggy little puppy came trotting into our family…and eventually into PlanIt.Mom, too.

He’s our real-life pup, professional snack investigator, frequent source of chaos, and the inspiration behind Nugget’s Corner: Little Paws. Big Adventures.™

Nugget’s Corner started with a simple idea: create the kind of sweet, fun, useful things I was already looking for and making for my own girls.

And, just like everything else around here, one idea turned into approximately 47.

Today, Nugget helps kids learn, play, explore, and grow through stories, printable activities, games, learning adventures, kindness projects, big-feelings resources, seasonal fun, and plenty of silliness along the way.

But there’s a little more heart behind it than just keeping kids busy.

I want Nugget’s Corner to be a place where kids can practice something that’s hard, learn something new, talk about a big feeling, use their imagination, do something kind, or simply sit down with some crayons and have fun.

And I want parents to be able to come here and think:

Oh, good. Something fun for them that I don’t have to invent myself.

Because sometimes a printable that buys you 20 peaceful minutes counts as family support, too.

A Little More About Me

I’m Jamie.  I’m raising two girls, Jessica and Jenna, just outside Atlanta with my husband and our shaggy little sidekick, Nugget.

I’m an older mom, a chronic planner, a storyteller, an idea collector, and apparently a woman who responds to having too much on her plate by getting a bigger plate.

I believe laughter is therapy, coffee is a necessity, Southern women can say an awful lot with “bless your heart,” and motherhood gets considerably easier once we stop pretending any of us knows exactly what we’re doing.

Most of what you see on PlanIt.Mom started somewhere in my real life.  Something my girls needed.  Something I struggled with.  Something Nugget did.  Something another mom said.  Something that made our family life easier.  Or something so ridiculous I knew other moms would appreciate it.

Real Mom Life. Real Talk. Real Good Ideas.
