Mom Hack: The Family Calendar Rule
Our basic rule:
If it isn’t on the calendar, it doesn’t exist.
But for getting places on time, there’s an important second rule:
Don’t only put the START time.
An entry that says:
Dance — 5:00 PM
still makes me do mental math at 4:37.
Instead:
Dance — 5:00 | LEAVE 4:35 | Dance bag + water
Now the calendar contains the information I actually need.
Put the Logistics With the Event
Whenever possible, include:
START TIME
LEAVE TIME
LOCATION
WHAT TO BRING
And anything unusual.
For a birthday party:
Ava’s Party — 2:00 | Leave 1:25 | Gift + socks
That’s a much better note to Future Me than:
Ava Party 2
Your calendar should reduce the amount of thinking you have to do later.
