Happy Grandparents Day! 💕

The girls worked so hard on cards for my mom and dad—proudly writing, drawing, and sticking every single sticker we own on them. Y’all, I swear if there was one bare inch of paper left, they were ready to pull out the glitter glue and start layering. We handed those masterpieces over at lunch, and you’d have thought my parents had just been given solid gold.

We try to see them as often as we can because this time is just so important—for me, for my parents, and for the girls. The funny part, though, is how every visit starts the exact same way: the girls race each other to the door, nearly knocking me down just to argue over who gets to ring the doorbell. Then? Dead silence. Suddenly my chatterboxes turn into shy little church mice—hiding behind me, avoiding eye contact, whispering their “hellos” like we’re meeting celebrities.

Give it five minutes, though, and the shyness melts right into full-on chaos: playing with my mom’s ceramic dolls (nerves of steel, that woman), digging through her jewelry box like it’s a treasure chest, and of course popsicles—always popsicles! By the end, my mom’s getting hugs, nail polish discussions, and “I love you!” shouted out the car window as we back down the driveway.

My poor dad? He usually gets a fist bump and maybe three words total—but he doesn’t mind. He’s busy sneaking treats to Nugget like they’ve got some secret alliance going on. Honestly, I think my dad may have finally found his best buddy in that fluffy little pup.

Happy Grandparents Day to all the Nanas, Papas, Grannies, and Granddads out there—you’re the magic glue in this whole family thing. ✹
