Christmas Countdown: Two Weeks Left, Y’all!

Christmas Countdown Check-In: Two Weeks Left, Y’all! How Are You Mamas Holding Up?

Well bless it, here we are — two teensy little weeks away from Christmas, most places are no longer promising delivery before Christmas, and I’m over here feeling like I’m so far behind I may just zoom past myself trying to reach the finish line. If you spot a shaggy khaki-colored puppy dragging tinsel and two little girls arguing about who touched whose hot cocoa mug… just know Nugget and I are surviving on faith and caffeine.

Let me catch y’all up on the festive roller coaster we’ve been riding since October. Buckle up — it’s been a ride.

🎃 OCTOBER: The Month That Tried to Take Me Out

October came in hotter than a cast-iron skillet left on high.

We had:

  • My mom’s birthday

  • My husband’s birthday

  • Halloween — my favorite holiday,!

    • FIVE dress-up days

    • Trunk-or-Treats

    • Fall Festivals

    • School events

    • And then Halloween night itself, when over 700 trick-or-treaters wiped out our candy stash before 8pm! Y’all, I was basically operating a sugar-based Chick-fil-A drive-thru window.

🦃 NOVEMBER: The Month That Gobbled Me Whole

November strutted in like it had something to prove.

We tackled:

  • Jenna’s 5th birthday — a full three-day celebration (school, friends, family)

  • Husband out of town the week before and after

  • Thanksgiving parties at different schools

  • Early pickup days

  • Thanksgiving break
I adore my babies, I do… but finding things to keep them busy all day really is exhausting! And between activity set-up, clean-up, and the demanding butler schedule, I can barely find the time to keep us in clean socks!

🎄 DECEMBER: The Month That Said, “Hold My Hot Cocoa”

December came barreling in like Buddy the Elf after a double espresso and Y’all we’re only 11 days in!!

First up:

  • My husband spent the first week literally on the other side of the planet

  • My birthday showed up just to remind me of my new aches and pains

  • The girls have changed their Christmas lists approximately 14 times

  • Nugget’s stocking needs stuffing because… of course it does

  • We still need time for friends, family, godsons, and Santa porch photos

  • Matching Christmas pajamas that WILL coordinate if it kills me

And then came Jessica’s birthday extravaganza!! Because apparently we are now a family who celebrates birthdays like multi-day music festivals:

  • We had her 7th birthday party with friends, full of food, fun, and goody bags - OH! The stress of the goody bags! Planning a Wednesday Addams–themed party is NOT as easy as one would think — especially when your child wants “spooky but not scary but also pretty but also Wednesday.” Okay??

  • And in true “I did this to myself” fashion, tomorrow is her official birthday and she very sweetly reminded me that last year we woke her up by dropping balloons on her in bed. So now? Guess who is blowing up balloons tonight like she’s training for the Macy’s Parade? Thanks, Last-Year Me. Love the ambition. Hate the follow-through expectations.

  • At school tomorrow, they’re celebrating her too — so my husband and I are joining her for lunch, and she has requested cake pops. Just a casual: “Mama, can you bring 28 cake pops? Lunch is at 11am.” Sure, baby. Why not? Let me just fire up my industrial bakery real quick.

  • And for dinner tomorrow, she wants Mexican food — Honestly? Bless this child. Because that means I get a margarita, and amen to that!

🎁 As a Gift to Myself, Here Are Things I Am NOT Doing This Year

This year I am reclaiming my peace — or what’s left of it — by proudly crossing these off the list:

  • ❌ Christmas cards

  • ❌ Driving across two counties to see giant light displays

  • ❌ Hosting or attending holiday parties

  • ❌ Coordinating playdates

  • ❌ Buying anything special for school spirit dress-up days

  • ❌ Clicking “add one more thing” for the girls — Mama’s tired, her credit card’s tired, and I’m already dreading wrapping presents

  • ❌ Purchasing anything that needs to be put together or that requires I “prep” at all

  • ❌ Stressing about laundry, housework, or errands

Because here’s the truth:

I have two kids under eight and a puppy. There WILL be art projects on the dining room table, toys on the floor in the playroom, a blanket fort in the living room that is apparently part of a long-term architectural plan, and (despite my hardest efforts) there will always be dirty laundry and dishes!

My girls are fed and wearing clean underwear. I’m calling it a win!

❤️ If You’re Feeling Behind, Overwhelmed, or Held Together by a Gumdrop and a Prayer… You Are Not Alone! Sending you love and support straight from Georgia — where the humidity never quits and neither do we.

Hang in there, mamas.

We’re doing our best… and that’s more than enough.
