Choose Your Chaos™: The Story Behind Our Wildly Patriotic Collection

Y’all… I have had SO much fun creating this year’s patriotic collection for PlanIt.Mom.

What started as a couple of funny shirt ideas somehow turned into an entire “Choose Your Chaos™” collection full of matching family shirts, patriotic accessories, backyard BBQ energy, parade route vibes, and of course … a little Nugget-inspired chaos too. 🐶

And honestly? That feels pretty on-brand for us.

Because around here, chaos usually shows up wearing mismatched shoes, carrying a snack, arguing over popsicles, and somehow still making the sweetest memories.

This collection was inspired by real life at our house!

If you know my daughters, then you KNOW exactly how we ended up with shirts like:

✨ “Red, White, & Wild”
✨ “Freedom to Be Loud”
✨ “Sparkler”
✨ “Firecracker”

One child is usually twirling through life with glitter and big feelings, while the other is loudly announcing her opinions from across the neighborhood. And somehow both of those personalities deserved their own patriotic moment.

That’s where the CHAOS Crew shirts were born.

Not picture-perfect family matching shirts…

REAL family matching shirts.

The kind made for:
✔ parade routes
✔ popsicle stains
✔ backyard sprinklers
✔ sticky watermelon hands
✔ cookouts that end too late
✔ and family photos where at least one child is absolutely not cooperating

Basically… America’s birthday, mama style.

And also — shout out to my husband …

Professional BBQ judge.
Occasional BBQ competitor.
Maker of the world’s best Brunswick stew.

Can y’all guess which shirt he inspired? 😂

Let’s just say there’s definitely a reason “Stars, Stripes, & Smokers” made the collection.

And then there’s Nugget.

Sweet little Nugget absolutely needed his own patriotic moment, which is how the “Freedom Fur-ever” line came to life. 🐾

I mean… if the kids get festive shirts, why shouldn’t the family dog?

This collection also includes our more grown-up patriotic gear:
“Red, White, & 250”
“Party Like It’s 1776”

Because the adults deserve to look festive while managing the chaos too.

And can we just take a second to appreciate this? America only turns 250 once.

So we decided to celebrate PlanIt.Mom style:
LOUDLY.
PROUDLY.
And probably slightly overdressed for a neighborhood parade.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll probably spot us around Atlanta proudly parading our chaos through:

…and likely Target at least once with matching shirts and a melting snack.

Honestly, that’s the good stuff.
