Bless Their Hearts and My Air Conditioner: Parenting Through Southern Summers

Bless Their Hearts and My Air Conditioner: Parenting Through Southern Summers

Y’all, we are deep in the “melt-your-face-off” portion of the Georgia summer. The kind where your thighs stick to the car seat, Nugget flat-out refuses to go outside (he just side-eyes me from the air vent), and the kids are officially bored with everything. We’ve played every game, watched every show, and I’m one bad idea away from letting them make slime again.

I’ve Googled “indoor places near me” so many times, my phone thinks I’m trying to move into the trampoline park. We’ve hit every indoor play spot within a 30-mile radius—and I’m not exaggerating when I say the ladies at Wiggle Giggle know our whole life story. She even asked if Jessica’s wiggly tooth fell out yet. (It hasn’t.)

So, here we are. Just a mama trying to survive these long, sweaty days without losing her last nerve. I’ve rounded up a list of fun local spots for a special treat or meal—because sometimes the only thing between you and a full-blown sibling wrestling match in the living room is an unexpected milkshake run or dinner somewhere that doesn’t require me to clean up afterward.

Whether you’re looking for something sweet, silly, or just someplace with decent AC, I got you. Let’s turn these “we’re so bored” whines into “that was the best day ever!” memories—even if just for a couple hours.

From Atlanta to Alpharetta and all the sticky spots in between—these are the places worth braving traffic (and toddler meltdowns) for! Grab your keys, your patience, and maybe a change of clothes (because someone will spill something). Let’s go make summer a little sweeter!
